Wool diaper cover

Diaper pant / shell diaper made of 100% Australian merino wool in an updated design, combined with our organic inner diaper or night diaper. The wool has fantastic absorbency, breathes and keeps you cool! Available in two sizes, Medium (4-10 kg) and Large (8-15 kg).

A wool diaper pant is an excellent choice to use over a nighttime diaper, or when the baby will be wearing the same diaper longer than usual (eg a long nap or car journey). Our wool nappy pants are made from 100% Australian fine knit merino wool and have fantastic stretch in both the waist and leg opening, so they fit over both thin and baggy nappies. They are soft and nice to the touch and put on like a pull-up nappy.

Wool has a very high absorbency, breathes and keeps you cool. The wool can absorb 3-4 times its own weight in liquid without feeling wet and breathes even when damp, keeping baby's bottom airy and dry. Perfect properties for a night nappy!

Washing instructions

• The wool nappy pant only needs to be washed every few weeks, provided it is treated with lanolin and does not get soiled.
• Wash the diaper pants in cold water, hand wash or wool program in a laundry bag and wool detergent.
• Treat with lanolin approximately every fortnight.

Lanolin treatment

In order for your wool diaper pants to function optimally, they need to be treated with lanolin (wool grease). Lanolin is the natural oil in wool that keeps the sheep dry in the rain. In order for the diaper pants to be waterproof, they need to be treated with lanolin every two to four weeks. Lanolin can be found in some pharmacies, baby stores and online stores that sell products for personal skin care.

• Fill a bucket or sink with about 5 cm of hot water. Add a piece of lanolin, the size of a pea, and let it melt in the water. Then cool the water down with cold water.
• Put in the wool nappy pant and squeeze it a little to distribute the lanolin evenly over the wool fibres. Then leave the diaper soaked for a couple of hours or overnight.
• Do not rinse the diaper when you pick it up, just squeeze out the water.
• Roll up the diaper in a towel to remove as much moisture as possible, then lay it flat to dry (not in the sun).
• Treat the wool nappy pant with lanolin every two to four weeks, or when it starts to smell bad!
